Soroptimist International of the Tri-Valley community service club announced the winners of the scholarship awards for 2021.

Soroptimist International of the Tri-Valley community service club announced the winners of the scholarship awards for 2021.
Violet Richardson Award - The Soroptimist Violet Richardson Award honors young women for their volunteer action in their community. The goal of this award is to recognize young women
who make their community and their world a better place through volunteerism. This year we awarded two young women with this award
Acacia Triplett, a student of Dublin High School was awarded $1000 for her "Our Dublin"
Shirt Project. The “Our Dublin” t-shirt symbolizes unity through it’s five fists and an inspiring
quote from The Hate You Give that reads, “Your voices matter, your dreams matter, your lives matter. Be roses that grow in the concrete,” The proceeds from the shirt sales funded
a scholarship to be awarded to future high school graduates at Dublin High

Parul Gupta, a student of Foothill High School was awarded $500 for
her development of an online tutoring program called Edutine. High Schoolers volunteer as tutors online to teach subjects they are comfortable and passionate about to students who
need assistance. Parul recognized the need of those students who would be missing out on the face to face assistance provided with in person classes. Parul obtained non-profit status when she realized the online classes would continue for the longer term. For more information or to

Dale Vaughn Bowen Award recipient was Maria Lourenco a student at Foothill High School. This year the scholarship award is $1000. The annual Dale Vaughn Bowen Scholarship is awarded to a student who has lost a parent to cancer. This scholarship was established to honor past Soroptimist member Dale Vaughn Bowen of Pleasanton. Maria's essay described the devastating loss of her mother to cancer and the formative role she played in her life.
