Stoneridge Drive Segment To Close Tuesday Amid Investigation

PLEASANTON, CA — Pleasanton police plan to shut down a portion of Stoneridge Drive Tuesday, for the second day in a row.

Officers anticipate closing the road from Newton Way to Trevor Parkway in both directions from 11:45 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. as they conduct a follow-up traffic investigation.

Mark Fiala, a 66-year-old resident in the area was pronounced dead at the scene of a crash at Stoneridge and Newton early Monday morning, officials said. Fiala was walking his dog in the crosswalk when he was struck by a driver whose name has not been released.

Police did not arrest the driver. The driver and witnesses cooperated with the police investigation.

Fiala's dog appeared to have minor injuries that were not life-threatening, police said.
