Valentine's Day Wines at The Wine Steward

Valentine's Day is coming up and if you're looking for a romantic wine for dinner or to close out the night, The Wine Steward in Pleasanton has some ideas.

Steve King of The Wine Steward recommended three bottles to Patch readers.

King said an obvious Valentine''s Day choice is Je T'aime. The sparkling wine from Limoux, France can make a good gift and costs a reasonable $19.99.

Je T'aime's website says, "Its stylish bouquet of fresh strawberry and raspberry dazzles one's senses. The bright, fresh fruit lead to a yeasty flavor that is crisp, balanced and graceful."

Chocolate is a popular sweet on Valentine's Day, and King says port compliments chocolate nicely. He recommends Ferreira from Portugal. The port, aged in oak, costs $21.99.

Lastly, if your looking for something to go with a hearty meal, you can pick up a bottle of 2010 La Storia for $22.99. The zinfandel wine is made in Sonoma County.
