FITNESS: Sizzling Saturday and My Progressive Journey Through Town with the Kids
My kids must have walked eight miles or more this weekend, but they never complained. And we had a weekend that is uniquely Pleasanton.
We took a huge bite out of the weekend, both literally and figuratively.
Sunday was a beautiful outdoor day with a hike along the creek, stopping at Specialty Sales where Jeremy let my kids sit in a DeLorean, and a swing by the studio so they could sweep and mop to earn credit for future toy purchases.
Next, a beverage break at Coffee Ali in the Vintage Hills shopping center before a mini-adventure through Kottinger park where my daughter searched for minnows and other creek life.

Finally we took a last detour by Don Memo Mexican Market for some coconut, chocolate and lime popcicles. We finished the day at Mission Hills Park with my girl and her boys.
But Saturday was just as much fun with our ever-changing downtown tour. In the morning we hit the Farmer’s Market and munched fresh strawberries and delectable delights from Feel Good Bakery, people-watching at Tully’s Square.

The evening was a hopscotch between retail and restaurants starting out at Pho Hoa, where I introduced my kids to Vietnamese noodle soup (we shared a tasty bowl). Then onto , a favorite of my son’s. After buying a kid-friendly comic we could all read to each other, I sat outside, enjoyg the falling sun and the passersby while I waited for my kids to peruse other offerings and build up an appetite for our next stop, Jio Yuan. I hadn’t been there in years – since it was “The Panda.” I got tofu lettuce wraps that were delicious and filling, sharing with my daughter.
We bopped around, enjoying the musicians on Main Street as part of the ’s Sizzling Saturdays, and my little girl added her crayon rendering of my folks’ dog on the floor butcher paper “canvas” at Studio 7.
Our last munchies stop was Meadowlark Dairy for a couple of small, soft-serve ice creams.

Did I mention I love this town?
