15K Pounds Of Illegal Fireworks Seized By San Mateo Co. Sheriff
A two-month investigation by the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office also yielded around $1 million in cash, according to a news release.
SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA — Two Bay Area residents were arrested this week on suspicion of distributing illegal fireworks.
A two-month investigation by the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office into a suspected major distribution line of illegal fireworks yielded the seizure of approximately 15,000 pounds of illegal fireworks and $1 million in cash, according to a news release.
The suspects, 61-year-old Sam San of San Francisco and 54-year-old Jennifer Nguyen of San Jose, were charged on Wednesday with sales of dangerous fireworks, possession of dangerous fireworks in excess of 100 pounds, possession of an explosive device and possession of dangerous fireworks over 5,000 pounds.

Two residences and an Oakland warehouse were linked to the operation, according to detectives. Search warrants were served in San Mateo, San Francisco, Alameda and Santa Clara counties.
