BREAKING: Person Fatally Struck by Caltrain in San Mateo

Trains were temporarily stopped Friday afternoon after a person was fatally struck by Caltrain on the tracks in San Mateo.

SAN MATEO, CA -- Trains were temporarily stopped Friday afternoon after a person was fatally struck by Caltrain on the tracks in San Mateo, according to Caltrain officials.

Southbound train 254 hit the person on the tracks near the Hillsdale station at 3:19 p.m., according to Caltrain spokeswoman Tasha Bartholomew.

All trains were temporarily stopped in the area for an investigation until about 3:50 pm. Afterward, passengers were told to expect delays of up to 60 minutes, as trains were limited to traveling at 15 MPH, Bartholomew said.
