Cinemark's San Mateo Movie Theater Will Reopen Next Friday
The theater will be among the first to open its doors again in the Bay Area.
SAN MATEO, CA — Century 12 San Mateo will reopen its doors to eager movie-going patrons next Friday, in accordance with San Mateo County entering the red tier in the state's COVID-19 blueprint that allows movie theaters to open at 25 percent capacity.
With the county moving into the red tier this week, Cinemark, which operates the Century locations, didn't hesitate to announce a return date for its theaters.
A statement on the theater's website reads: "With careful planning and greatly enhanced safety measures, we are excited to welcome you back!"

On Cinemark's website, the theater pledged to reopen "thoughtfully," with "greatly enhanced cleanliness, sanitizing and safety measures at every step of your movie-going experience."
Cinemark has other Bay Area locations in Daly City, Novato, Redding, Redwood City, San Bruno and San Rafael. The Redwood Downtown 20 and XD in Redwood City, Century at Tanforan and XD in San Bruno and Century Northgate in San Rafael are currently open.

The other locations are also set to reopen on Mar. 5.
Century 12 San Mateo is located at 320 East 2nd Avenue.
