Coolio, Young MC To Jumpstart San Mateo County Fair Concerts

As more Californians become vaccinated, live music and events are returning. The San Mateo County fair just announced its concert series.

SAN MATEO, CA — Peninsula residents can "Bust A Move" with Young MC next month as the San Mateo County Fair kicks off its summer concert series, fair officials said Tuesday.

This year, all concerts will be held at the main outdoor stage and will begin at 7:30 p.m. June 5 through June 13. Fairgoers who purchase a general admission ticket will be able to attend performances at no additional fee.

The first performances will be led by Coolio, Young MC and C+C Music Factory on June 5.

Coolio known for his singles "Gangsta's in Paradise," "Fantastic Voyage," "1, 2, 3, 4 (Sumpin' New) and "C U When U Get There."

Young MC garnered worldwide recognition "Bust A Move," which reached #7 on Billboard Hot 100 and won a Grammy for Best Rap Performance in 1989.

Meanwhile, C+C Music Factory had gained fame after hit singles "Gonna Make you Sweat (Everybody Dance Now" and "Things That Make You Go Hmmm."

"We are so excited that the San Mateo County Fair is in person this year and that means celebrating with live music for all ages,” said Dana Stoehr, CEO of the San Mateo Event Center. "While the Fair needs to be a little different this year and we must take all the proper precautions to ensure safety of fairgoers, we are certain it will be the go-to event for the Peninsula in June."

After the first concert, the following cover bands will play: Queen Nation on June 6; Journey Revisited on June 9; Petty Fever on June 10; and Creedence Revelation on June 11.

Also, the fair will host music for Family Pride Day on June 6; Pacific Island Day on June 12 and Dia de La Feria on June 13, organizers said.
