Chabad of the North Peninsula is bringing the joy and fun of the holiday of Purim with a creative, Covid-friendly twist. The Drive-In Purim Event will be held in S. Mateo on Thursday, February 25 at 6:00 PM, and is open to the entire community. Everyone is welcome to enjoy this year’s celebration, with fun for the whole family. The event will feature live music and an interactive performance by acclaimed musician and animator Jonathan Bayer. Participants will enjoy the juggling act of Draco the Juggler, a live game show and a short child-friendly screening of the story of Esther, all from the comfort of their car.

The holiday of Purim commemorates the salvation of the Jewish people from the hands of Haman, who wished to annihilate the Jews completely. Queen Esther and Mordechai, the heroes of the story, remind us to stand strong and fight for our beliefs. Purim is celebrated by sharing gifts of food with friends, giving charity to those in need, and spreading joy to those around us with fun and festivities.

In the spirit of Purim, everyone is encouraged to come in costume, and will be included in the virtual masquerade, which will be displayed on the large screen. This community-wide event is a project of Chabad of the North Peninsula and is open to all, regardless of Jewish affiliation or background.
