Drivers Cited For Racing On San Mateo Bridge At Over 100 MPH: CHP

According to the CHP, the two cars were using all lanes, making lane changes, cutting vehicles off and nearly causing several accidents.

SAN MATEO, CA — California Highway Patrol officers stopped two vehicles that were racing each other on the San Mateo Bridge at speeds of up to 105 miles per hour on Saturday.

According to the Redwood City CHP, a Chevy Camaro and BMW 3 series were using all lanes, making lane changes, cutting vehicles off and nearly causing several accidents. The drivers were approximately 20 years old, police said, and both were cited.

Officers stopped both vehicles at the Foster City end of the bridge, and both vehicles were impounded for 30 days. One of the drivers was unlicensed, according to police. Both vehicles also had a female passenger inside.
