To help increase awareness about financial abuse of the elderly, First Bank hosted an Elder Financial Abuse Protection Workshop on March 4 at the San Mateo branch (24 E. 4th Avenue).
Serving as panelists for the seminar were Susan Montoya, Senior Vice President/Corporate CRA Officer; Stacey Chamberlain, Community Service Officer, San Mateo Police Department; R. Chris Rodriguez, LCSW, Health Service Manager II; and Angela Sakkos, Senior Services Supervisor, San Mateo Senior Center.

“Local community residents turned out anxious to hear from local experts on how they could safeguard their finances and protect themselves from scams and identity theft,” said Susan Montoya of First Bank. “It was great to hear several attendees praise First Bank for providing this much needed workshop. One guest claimed ‘you never see the big banks provide this community service.’”
