Free 'Tipsy Tows' Offered For Cinco De Mayo In NorCal

For those who indulge in too many Cervezas, margaritas or tequila ... please, don't drive. This AAA service is free.

NORTHERN CALIFORNIA – For those who need a safe ride after imbibing on this year's Cinco De Mayo, AAA Northern California is offering its free "Tipsy Two Service."

The service starts at 6 p.m. Saturday, May 5 and runs through 6 a.m. Sunday, May 6, and is available to drivers, passengers, party hosts, bartenders and restaurant managers with a phone call, stating a Tipsy Tow is needed, to 1-800-AAA-HELP (1-800-222-4357), AAA officials said.

Participants do not have to be an AAA member to use the service.

“We want everyone celebrating Cinco de Mayo to have a safe ride home lined up before they head out the door,” said Michael Blasky, AAA Northern California spokesperson. “If that plan falls through, AAA will be there to get you home safely.”

Drivers should be prepared to provide their names, home addresses, phone numbers, locations and vehicle descriptions. Tipsy Tow will provide free rides home and vehicle tows up to 10 miles, according to the agency. For mileage beyond that, motorists are charged a standard towing rate.
