Mill Valley Staff Report On Policing To Go Before City Council
The council directed the Task Force to create a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Work Plan on Dec. 7
MILL VALLEY, CA — A Mill Valley staff report on policing will go before the City Council on Monday, city officials said.
The report follows the recommendations of a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Task Force that was formed to make recommendations on how to address issues in several aspects of city government including law enforcement.
The since-dissolved DEI Task Force formed in the fall presented their Report and Recommendations to the council Dec. 7 that included 12 law enforcement recommendations.

Council at the December 7 meeting directed staff to conduct a “high-level sort” to determine which recommendations are already in place and which ones may need additional consideration or are beyond the scope of the city’s authority.
The council also direct staff to create a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Work Plan.

The council on the recommendation of staff on Feb. 18 dissolved the Task Force but encouraged to remain in contact with its members.
The Mill Valley Police Department on Monday will present an update on the Work Plan items under their purview.
The 6:30 p.m. meeting can be viewed online on Zoom or on the city’s website or on local television (Comcast Ch. 27, AT&T Ch. 99).
