SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA — A Peninsula animal shelter is waiving adoption fees for rabbits for the entire month of June.

The Peninsula Humane Society and SPCA has 21 rabbits available for adoption, including Bluebell, an adult female rabbit.

“Rabbits are charming pets, and perfect for people living in smaller spaces since they don’t require as much space,” PHS/SPCA Communications Manager Buffy Martin Tarbox said in a news release. “Most are litter boxed trained and they are also very quiet animals, so no barking or meowing.”

The shelter’s rigorous adoption process will still be in place, according to Tarbox. The adoption center is located at the PHS/SPCA Tom and Annette Lantos Center for Compassion at 1450 Rollins Road in Burlingame and is open from noon to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and noon to 5 p.m. on weekends.
