Peninsula Hit-And-Run Suspect Backed Into Victim, Fled: Sheriff

The incident occurred at the Poplar Beach parking lot in Half Moon Bay on Sunday, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office.

HALF MOON BAY, CA — The San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office is seeking a suspect in a felony hit and run on Sunday in Half Moon Bay at the Poplar Beach parking lot.

According to the sheriff’s office, the suspect — described as a Hispanic male adult between 20 and 25 years old — backed into the victim, knocked him to the ground and then fled eastbound on Poplar Avenue around 9:15 p.m.

The suspect then crashed into a residence fence at the northeast corner of Highway 1 and Poplar Avenue, according to the sheriff’s office. He fled northbound on Highway 1.

Other details of the suspect provided by the sheriff’s office are that he is medium build with short brown hair. He was also wearing a blue sweatshirt and blue jeans.
