Peninsula Humane Society Puts 'Elvis The Pig' Up For Adoption
Shelter officials want to see Elvis, a growing pig, with a caring owner. Also, he loves apples.
SAN MATEO, CA — The Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA has put up an adult male pig found as a stray for adoption.
Elvis the Pig, an adult neutered male of an unknown age, was found by a Good Samaritan wandering around her property in Woodside. He was brought into the shelter on Feb. 25 and went unclaimed.
Shelter officials want to see Elvis, the fourth pig in the last three years to be put up for adoption, with a caring owner.

“We are committed to finding him a loving home where he will be kept as a pet, not a source of food,” said PHS/SPCA Communications Manager Buffy Martin Tarbox.
In a news release, Tarbox described Elvis as social, and a “wonderful pet for someone who has the space he’ll need to thrive and live a happy life.” Elvis is expected to grow and potential adopters are asked to make room to accommodate.

The average lifespan of a pig is 12 to 18 years, and their diet includes pig pellets, fresh vegetables and alfalfa hay.
“Although Elvis is very fond of apples,” Tarbox added.
