San Mateo County Businesses Begin Receiving $10K Relief Grants

The county received over 600 applications for grants from struggling businesses, but only 400 will get $10,000 in funds.

SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA — Some struggling businesses in San Mateo County are receiving $10,000 relief grants through the Restaurant, Brewery and Winery Relief Program.

The program, developed in December 2020 with help from a $1 million pledge by the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, turned into a larger effort across San Mateo County. Nearly $4 million has been raised through the initiative.

The county received over 600 applications for grants, but only 400 will get $10,000 in funds, according to a news release.

“Every restaurant, brewery, and winery that survives the pandemic is a testament to the perseverance and pivoting skills of the owners and employees, which are often women, people of color, families and immigrants,” said Board of Supervisors President David Canepa in a news release.
