San Mateo County Expected To Move Into Orange Tier Next Week
The move would further loosen restrictions on the reopening of businesses.
SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA — San Mateo County is expected to move into the orange tier in the state’s COVID-19 blueprint next week, further loosening restrictions on the reopening of shopping centers, retail stores, places of worship, restaurants, gyms and other indoor operations.
As the county’s adjusted daily case rate per 100,000 people has dipped to 3.0 and its seven-day percent positivity to an average of 1.2 percent, officials are planning for the state to move the county up next Wednesday. Currently, just three of California’s 58 counties are in the orange tier.
San Mateo County moved into the red tier on Feb. 24 after exiting the most restrictive, purple tier.
