San Mateo County Leaders Gather For 'Communities United' Rally

Leaders were set to rally and advocate for marginalized communities and a more safe and inclusive society in San Mateo on Saturday.

SAN MATEO, CA — This Saturday, a group of San Mateo County community leaders and elected officials will gather for a "Communities United" rally to advocate for marginalized communities and a more safe and inclusive society.

The rally takes place at 11 a.m. at the San Mateo Central Park, near the flag pole.
Communities United is a movement that originated after an April event to combat violence against the Asian community.

The rally is part of the movement to "bring together all marginalized communities throughout San Mateo County to join us in the fight for change," according to the Communities United website.

Speakers and attendees include Rep. Jackie Speier, D-San Francisco/San Mateo; state Sen. Josh Becker, D-Menlo Park; Millbrae City Councilmember Anders Fung, one of the lead organizers of the movement; San Mateo County Board of Supervisors President David Canepa; San Mateo County Sheriff Carlos Bolanos; San Carlos Mayor Laura Parmer-Lohan; and San Mateo City Councilmember Diane Papan.
