San Mateo Police Arrest Two Juveniles In Murder Of 19-Year-Old

Two 16-year-old boys were charged with homicide, attempted homicide and conspiracy. The investigation is ongoing, police said.

SAN MATEO, CA — San Mateo police arrested two suspects in connection with a murder of a 19-year-old at the San Mateo Adult School on Friday night.

On Monday evening, the San Mateo Police Department said that two 16-year-old boys were charged with homicide, attempted homicide and conspiracy. The investigation is ongoing, police said.

One of the juveniles is from San Mateo and the other from Menlo Park. Police said that they executed search warrants at each of their residences and evidence collected is being analyzed and processed.

The 19-year-old man was killed in a shooting at the San Mateo Adult School just before 9 p.m. on Friday night, police said.

The man was sitting in the driver's seat of a parked car in the lot of the campus on Poplar Avenue when the incident occurred, the San Mateo Police Department said in a statement.

"Detectives learned this incident was not associated or related to any activity or event at The San Mateo Adult School or San Mateo High School," San Mateo police said in a statement

The man was shot in the abdomen and succumbed to his injuries, police said. After the gunfire ended, a group fled the scene on foot, witnesses told police.
