“In addition to our Safe Streets San Mateo Traffic Safety Campaign, this pedestrian safety operation is another tool our department can utilize to improve traffic safety and educate motorists and pedestrians alike,” said San Mateo Police Traffic Sergeant Craig Collom. “When approaching a crosswalk where pedestrians are present, drivers must yield the right-of-way. Our hope is this operation will serve as a reminder to both drivers and pedestrians about their individual responsibilities and deter future violations.”
