Total Wine & More Raises More Than $21,000 for Boys & Girls Club
Hundreds gathered to welcome San Mateo's newest store, and to give back to the local community
Total Wine & More, America’s largest independent retailer of fine wine, beer and spirits, attracted huge crowds and more than $21,000 in donations during the recent Grand Opening of its new store, located at 2250 Bridgepointe Parkway in San Mateo, California.
The retailer donated 10% of all wine sales during grand opening weekend to the Mid-Peninsula Boys & Girls Club, an organization that supports and promotes the development and education of youth in the Bay Area.
On Friday, April 13, Total Wine & More held a check presentation ceremony in the new store to demonstrate its support for the Boys & Girls Club.

“Beyond our own charitable contributions, our local partnerships give customers the opportunity to give back, while enjoying all that Total Wine & More stores have to offer,” says Cooper.
Total Wine & More is known for its larger-than-life selection, including more than 8,000 wines, 3,000 spirits and 2,500 beers in each store. The retailer focuses on selection, service, and price as the three points of differentiation from its competitors.
“In today’s retail environment, it’s essential to deliver an experience that out-performs all the rest,” says Cooper. “We do just that. Our ability to offer the very largest selection at the lowest prices possible is unmatched, and we follow those offerings up with an expertly trained staff.”
Total Wine & More invests in over 100 hours of training for each employee, honing their expertise in production methods, wine regions, tasting profiles, and more. In addition, the company offers employees opportunities to immerse themselves in various cultures in order to gain new perspectives on wines, beers and spirits.
“We take customer service very seriously, and the results speak for themselves,” notes Cooper. “Beyond in-store training, we take team members on educational trips to Europe, as well as Napa and Sonoma Valley wineries in order to broaden their knowledge and uphold the highest level of service for our customers.”
In addition to its thousands of wines, beers, and spirits, the new Total Wine & More in San Mateo offers a host of tastings and classes to deepen consumers’ knowledge of their products, and enrich their tasting experiences. Upcoming classes and events can be found online at http://www.totalwine.com/events/May-2018/california/san-mateo.
The new store also offers a high-tech classroom that is available for use by local businesses and charities at no charge. Interested parties can book the education/tasting room at https://totalwine.eventready.com/eventrequest/.
“The addition of this location will positively impact the city of San Mateo in more ways than one,” says Cooper. “The expansion will bring approximately 50 new jobs, generate additional retail sales tax and will offer the community a wide selection of wines, beers and spirits at an affordable price.”
