Vegan 'Take Bánh Mì' Sandwich Run Extended At Peninsula Dog Haus

BELMONT, CA — A specialty, vegan sandwich, the Take Bánh Mì, created by "Top Chef" season two winner, Chef Ilan Hall, will be sold through January at the Dog Haus restaurant in Belmont, as part of the chain's Chef Collaboration Series, that benefits the nonprofit No Kid Hungry.

Also on the eatery's menu through the end of January are two new cocktails, Dusty Bottoms and G Pop, crafted by celebrity mixologist Lisamarie Joyce, according to the Pasadena-based restaurant group.

For every purchase of a cocktail or burger, $1 will be donated to No Kid Hungry, said officials from Dog Haus, the chain that's gained fame for its gourmet hot dogs, sausages and burgers at numerous locales throughout California.

The Take Bánh Mì sandwich — a vegan first for Dog Haus — was initially introduced as a December offering, a collaboration between Würstmacher Adam Gertler and TV personality chef Hall. The burger features an Impossible™ burger patty, topped with pickled vegetables, jalapeños, cilantro, spicy vegan mayo, chili oil and hoisin sauce and is served on a vegan ciabatta roll.

The limited-time cocktail, Dusty Bottoms, made with tequila, lime, pineapple, smoked bitters and ginger beer , is available at Dog Haus Biergarten locations, along with the G Pop drink, concocted using prosecco, lime and gingerand G Pop.

“Getting the opportunity to create these beverages for such a spirited brand is a lot of fun for me,” said mixologist and creator Joyce. “It’s a blast working with the folks at Dog Haus to show my style through these cocktails – they have an incredible team. I hope everyone comes out and tries the new cocktails to support No Kid Hungry.”

NOTE: Impossible burger patties and other ingredients are prepped and cooked alongside non-vegan items.
