Man With "Very Large Knife" Tasered, Shot By Lakewood Police
Police said a man was waving a knife at pedestrians and drivers and refused to drop it when he was stunned and then shot by Lakewood police.

LAKEWOOD, CO – Lakewood police were investigating an officer-involved shooting near West 3rd Avenue and Sheridan. Sheridan Road was closed for the evening rush hour between West 1st and West 6th avenues, police said.
The man who was shot was armed with a "very large knife” and refused to put the weapon down, a police spokesman said. Police first tweeted about the incident around 3:30 p.m. on April 29 near West 3rd Avenue and Sheridan. No officers were injured, police said.
Police said callers reported that a man was threatening pedestrians and cars with the knife near West 4th Avenue and North Harlan Street, near a school bus drop-off area. The man ran from police, who chased him to West 3rd Avenue and Sheridan Boulevard.

Police said an agent deployed a Taser on the man, but he still would not stop or drop the knife. At least one agent shot the man, police said.
Denver police are helping with the investigation, Lakewood police said. The name of the man was not released.
