Brookfield Firefighters Tackle Gas Spill on Route 7

BROOKFIELD, CT — Firefighters responded to a gasoline spill that snarled traffic Sunday afternoon of Route 7.
First responders from Brookfield Volunteer Fire Company found that 15 to 20 gallons of fuel had leaked from a truck's ruptured gas tank and was leaving puddles of along the shoulder of the road.
Firefighters established a traffic break for nearly a quarter-mile to slow cars and mitigate the large spill. The state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection and state troopers were called in for the clean-up.
