Brookfield Full Coronavirus Vaccination, Case Rates

BROOKFIELD, CT — Coronavirus vaccine demanded has waned in recent weeks for Connecticut residents, but case rates are beginning to drop now that more than two-thirds of the adult population is vaccinated.

Seniors have been especially keen to get the vaccine; about nine out of every 10 residents 65 and older has received at least one dose, according to the state Department of Public Health.

In Brookfield 6,654 residents have been fully vaccinated as of April 28, which is about 39 percent of the population — in total 55 percent of the town population has received at least one dose, according to DPH.

Cases

Connecticut’s infection rate is starting to drop again after being on the rise for about a month. There were 22.1 average daily cases per 100,000 population between April 11 and 24. The rate was above 30 just a couple of weeks ago.

Brookfield recorded 11 new coronavirus cases between April 21 and 28 according to DPH’s preliminary data. There have been 1689 cases recorded since the pandemic began and 17 coronavirus deaths.

Brookfield had 18.1 average daily cases per 100,000 residents between April 11 and 24 and a positive test rate of 2.90 percent. There were 28.1 average daily cases per 100,000 residents in the previous two-week reporting period. It’s important to note that a relatively small number of cases can have a big effect on the case rate, especially in smaller towns.
