Brookfield Hazardous Weather Outlook Issued: Thunderstorms, 60 MPH Winds & Possible Snow
Unseasonable cold and wind gusts of up to 60 miles per hour are expected in the Brookfield area which could cause more power outages.
BROOKFIELD, CT-- A Hazardous Weather Outlook has been issued by the National Weather Service for the area now through Wednesday with the worst weather expected over the weekend.
Showers, gusty winds and thunderstorms and possibly snow could hit our area. On Saturday night, wind gusts for southern Connecticut may reach 60 miles per hour which could cause power outages. Temperatures will be below freezing on Sunday night so residents should cover and/or bring sensitive plants indoors.

NBC Connecticut Meteorologist Ryan Hanrahan said, “A strong upper level disturbance is going to swing through Saturday night and it could produce a heavy round of snow squalls - especially after midnight in the wee hours of Sunday morning. Something to watch if you have plans late Saturday night.”
WTNH News 8 Meteorologist Gil Simmons said, “Mild temperatures today with 60s in the forecast. It will be windy at times with gusts to 45 mph today. Rain showers in the forecast for Friday followed by a rude cold wind on Sunday and a few snow showers too!”
Here is the latest forecast from the National Weather Service:
- Today: Mostly sunny, with a high near 66. Southwest wind 14 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 33 mph.
- Tonight: A chance of showers before midnight, rain likely between midnight and 3am, periods of rain and possible thunderstorm after 3am. Patchy fog after 3am. Low around 55. South wind 10 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent.
- Friday: Periods of rain and possibly a thunderstorm before 3pm, showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 3pm. Patchy fog before 9am. High near 68. South wind around 11 mph, with gusts as high as 22 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent.
- Friday Night: A slight chance of showers before midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 46. West wind 3 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.
- Saturday: A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 56. Calm wind becoming southwest 5 to 8 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent.
- Saturday Night: A chance of rain showers before 2am, then a chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 32. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent.
- Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 41. Breezy.
- Sunday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 26.
- Monday: A chance of rain after noon. Partly sunny, with a high near 44. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.
- Monday Night: A chance of rain before 2am, then a chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 30. Chance of precipitation is 50 percent.
- Tuesday: A chance of snow. Partly sunny, with a high near 41. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.
- Tuesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 24.
- Wednesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 44.
