Our exhibit explores the complexity the artists bring to capturing the magic of birds. Karen Kent focuses on owls, and her artwork encompases whimsical creativity that fully captures their personalities. Kent uses mixed media to further add complexity to her colorful imagery. Sean Murtha takes a different approach with traditional earth tones and gorgeous scenery depicting birds in their natural habitat. Murtha’s paintings resemble photographs and the sense of realism is astonishing. Dorie Petrochko also celebrates birds in her beautiful artwork. Her paintings capture a print like quality that fully encompass the essence and intricacies of these feathered creatures. You do not want to miss this exquisite exhibit. Register for our Meet the Artists
event to hear the artists speak first hand about their astounding artwork and their artistic background.

“As an art historian and a teacher I am fascinated by artists’ different styles. You would think that birds would be depicted basically in the same way but it’s not true. Each one of these artists are so very different in how they want to delight in these beautiful creatures,” said by Carolyn Nuzzi, curator for the Brookfield Library Art Gallery.
