[Brookfield, CT, December 2, 2019] Get in the wintertime mood with our December artist, Susan Grisell of Gaylordsville, CT. Come see her work at The Brookfield Library Art Gallery which runs from December 4 – December 29. A reception for the artist is scheduled for Sunday, December 8, from 3:00 – 5:00 pm, in the library’s community room, with refreshments. Ms. Grisell paints in oil, beautiful New England rural snowscapes and still lifes. Ms. Grisell regards her oil paintings as a visual journal recording a time of day, an effect of light, an arrangement of objects, or a person’s attitude, an impression which she hopes to communicate to the viewer. She has painted and exhibited professionally all her adult life, mostly in outdoor shows in New York and New England. Her numerous awards include many for Best in Show.
The Brookfield Library Art Gallery will be open for dedicated viewing of this exhibit on Wednesdays from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm, in December and whenever there is not a library program in session.
“Susan’s cozy snowscapes and cozy still life paintings are just the thing for these chilly wintry days. You’ll love her impressionistic oils depicting familiar scenes. We are so thrilled to have Susan’s work here at The Brookfield Library Art Gallery”. Stop in to the library to see her exhibit in December and get to meet her in person on December 8th! The work in our gallery is always for sale by the artist. One of Susan’s paintings would make a thoughtful and unique gift for the holidays – and the artist will donate a portion of the sale to the library.” said Library Director Yvonne Cech.
Area artists are invited to submit samples of their work either in person at the library or on the library’s website at www.brookfieldlibrary.org. The Art Gallery Committee will review all submissions and will contact those selected and will schedule exhibits. Library patrons will be able to see each exhibit as they attend library programs in the community room. Check the library’s website for information on dedicated viewing Art Gallery viewing days and times.
This Art Gallery space has been made possible by the generous support of The Friends of the Brookfield Library. The mission of this nonprofit organization is to support the library through fundraising, including the annual July book sale, the Friends’ primary fundraising event.
