How did you come up with the name?

I have always been a direct and honest person and want people to know I am trustworthy. I am my business. I am the spokesman, salesman, manager, and lead employee. I wanted people to see me when they see my business and so I named my business after me. Also as the name suggests we specialize in tree care, removal, and landscape maintenance.

Why choose that location? Why start a business in this town?

I grew up in Brookfield and wouldnt have it any other way. I love Brookfield in almost every way and interact with much of the same people I have known for 30 years. Whether it be running into friends and contractors or the local police at the Highway Market or just seeing them as I drive from one job to another it is always a great interaction with the people I have come to trust and take friendship. Brookfield is also a great community and such has been an honor to serve them.

Briefly, what business are you in?

Specializing in tree removal including hazardous takedowns and landscape maintenance since 2005 we have worked at developing our skills to be safe and efficient on every job. Our experience shows and have earned a good local reputation. We depend on good work because we get 99 percent of our business by word of mouth.

What’s the most difficult moment or challenge you’ve faced as a business owner?

The most difficult challenge I have faced is the unknown. You never know if the phone will ring, how busy the year will be, and the future you hold for your family. I shouldnt have too much fear in this as my business has grown each and every year but it is not something to take for granted. As my two children grow up I wish to provide for them as well as or greater than I was provided for and owning a business is my way to do just that. I will always work hard so that my family will be OK and I hope that my customer base can always support that.

Were there any challenges that made you second guess your decision to be an entrepreneur?

No. I have always been a hard worker. Injury, economical reasons, and hardship will not stop my work ethic. I can make it in this economy as I have shown since my business has been growing throughout this down market and I have figured out each problem as they have been thrown my way.

What’s been your favorite moment or proudest achievement since opening?

Marrying my wife and having two amazing children are my proudest accomplishments. Besides that I am proud to support family in my own house and owning free and clear all of my equipment. I am also very proud of the loyalty of my returning customers each and every year to tell me that its all worth it.

What’s the most innovative idea your employees or customers have had that you put into practice?

Hard work gets good results and respect. Our customers appreciate the hard work we put in and genuine thanks cannot be put into words but seeing it is amazing.

How do you deal with difficult customers?

Not every contractor fits every customer. Having that understanding goes a long way. Its too easy to lose your cool but not worth it in the long run and understanding on my part of the customers needs is the most important thing. I try to explain everything we do if it comes into question and after understanding where we are coming from is enough to put customers at ease. If we cannot do the job we recommend certain people who can and I hold nothing against anyone.

How does your business give back or get involved in the community?

As an Eagle Scout from Troop 5 in Brookfield I like to help them out a couple times a year. We chip their christmas tree collections in January and try to help them deliver mulch in May. It is very important to me to give back to the organization that helped me build much of the character that I have today.
