Also recognized with a certificate of appreciation from the Brookfield VFW Post for his outstanding volunteerism and service to the community was Wallin who was given a scholarship by the Post for $125.00.

Both Boy Scouts have attained the highest level of achievement having been promoted to the rank of Eagle Scout, a feat accomplished by only 4 percent of all who participate in the Scouting Program.

In recognition of their participation in the Scout of the Year competition, each of their major accomplishments were shared at the ceremony.

Bogues was applauded for his work to overcome confusion in finding classes, administrative sites and other locations within Brookfield High School by installing 46 directional signs at designated hallway and intersections throughout the building. He also constructed ergonomic desks elevated to a comfortable standing height in the Math classes at the High School.

Wallin embarked on a program to head up a task force to install hand rails along a rugged uphill path to an outside chapel of the Brookfield Congregational Church to make the descent for the parishioners safer and easier to navigate. He also built and installed two storage benches to store cushions and provide extra seating.

While recognizing the Eagle Scout honorees, Gene Roberts the Program Moderator said, “each one has risen above their peers in exemplifying the highest qualities of scouting and represent the best of their generation.”

Also honored was senior adult scout advisor Donald Winkley for having served the past and present Scouts of Brookfield's Troop 5 for over 60 years.
