Brookfield Village Granted More Time to Build

The town had agreed to grant Brookfield Village a tax brrak if the developer completed its second two buildings within a year of the first.

BROOKFIELD, CT — Brookfield Village, the mixed-use development downtown that debuted Subway and Rich Farm Ice Cream eateries earlier this year, has been granted a six month extension to construct its second two buildings, the News Times is reporting.

The town had agreed to grant Brookfield Village a tax abatement if the developer completed its second two buildings within a year of the first two mix-use buildings. The developer requested a 12 month extension, and the Board of Selectmen announced this week they would compromise by gving Brookfield Village an additional six months.

When completed, Brookfield Village will consist of four buildings with 72 apartments and 26,000 square feet of commercial space on the first level. In 2015 Patch reported that Brookfield Village, LLC received a $4.5 million loan for 48 affordable housing units.
