Fire Breaks Out On The Shore Of Candlewood Lake

A single-family home under construction on the shore of Candlewood Lake was destroyed in a fire that could only be accessed by boat.

NEW FAIRFIELD, CT — A fire destroyed a single-family home under construction in New Fairfield Wednesday morning.

For about 90 minutes beginning at 8:00 a.m., the Brookfield Volunteer Fire Company, along with firefighters from New Fairfield and Sherman tackled the blaze at Vaughn’s Neck on Candlewood Lake, which could only be accessed by boat. No one was injured.

The fire remains under investigation by the New Fairfield Fire Marshal's Office.
