Lightning Strike Ignites Blaze In Brookfield
The Brookfield Volunteer Company received word of smoke in the area of the hillside in the back of Meadow Brook Manor shortly after 8 a.m.
BROOKFIELD, CT — Lightning struck a tree and set it ablaze, prompting swift action by Brookfield firefighters.
The Brookfield Volunteer Company received word of smoke in the area of the hillside in the back of Meadow Brook Manor shortly after 8:00 a.m. Monday.
First responders found smoke from the hillside about 1,000 feet off the road. Mutual aid from the Danbury First Department was requested, and with a DFD drone firefighters were able to locate the large tree that had been struck by lightning. An active fire still burned in and around it.

Numerous firefighters were called upon to stretch the long hose up the hill to the fire, where it could be used to extinguish it.
