Pedestrian Struck and Killed in Brookfield Crash: UPDATE

The crash is being investigated by the Brookfield Accident Investigation Team.

BROOKFIELD, CT— A pedestrian was struck and by an SUV while walking along Candlewood Lake Road in Brookfield on Friday morning, police have reported.

Linda Warner, 76, of Brookfield, was struck and injured shortly after 10:00 a.m. She was transported by Brookfield Ambulance to Danbury Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries shortly after her arrival.

Police were first notified of the crash, on Candlewood Lake Road north of the intersection with Main Drive in the area of #279, around 10:11 a.m. The driver of the SUV, Gary Elwell, 50, was uninjured. There were no other passengers in the vehicle.

Police closed Candlewood Lake Road in the area of the accident from approximately 10:15 AM until 1:07 p.m.

The crash is being investigated by the Brookfield Accident Investigation Team.
