How did you come up with the name?

I attended Fiorello LaGuardia High School of Performing Arts in New York City as a Dance Major. It was the most exciting and creative environment I’d ever experienced. When I started my business, I wanted to re-create that same atmosphere where students could explore and develop in dance and the performing arts.

Why choose that location? Why start a business in this town?

I live in Brookfield. It is a great town and I was excited to work with my children and the community.

Briefly, what business are you in?

We are a dance school offering classes for students of all ages and abilities in: Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, Hip Hop, Musical Theater, and Contemporary dance. We also work with local vocal and acting instructors.

What’s the most difficult moment or challenge you’ve faced as a business owner?

The declining economy.

Were there any challenges that made you second guess your decision to be an entrepreneur?

Never. I have always dreamed of having my own Dance School. It’s been so rewarding and I can’t imagine doing anything else.

What’s been your favorite moment or proudest achievement since opening?

Teaching dance is a joy and a privilege. Whether students pursue dance on a professional level through performance, teaching, or simply for enjoyment, taking part in a students overall development is the greatest achievement and so rewarding.

What’s the most innovative idea your employees or customers have had that you put into practice?

Offering students various performance and learning opportunities.

How do you deal with difficult customers?

With patience and understanding.

How does your business give back or get involved in the community?

For the last 7 years we have presented “Tis the Season” A Holiday Variety show and donated all the proceeds of our opening night performances to Ann’s Place, The Home of I Can in Danbury as well as local food banks. I think it’s important for students to learn that they can make a difference and give back to their community using their talents. cleardot.gif
