St. Mary School PreK Service Project Helps Homeless Veterans

1400 Cans of Soup Collected for Veterans at "Homes for the Brave"

St. Mary School's PreK 3 class hosted a "Souper Bowl" collection to help feed the men and women at Homes for the Brave in Bridgeport, CT, an organization that houses homeless veterans for up to 42 days and provides resources to help them get their lives back on track. Head teacher, Mrs. Mary Riehl, challenged the school to collect one thousand cans of soup. She was thrilled when the final tally came in at fourteen hundred cans. She was especially appreciative of parents like Mr. Anthony Ranallo, who shared the collection details with his co-workers and helped the school reach their goal.

At St. Mary School, every grade participates in a service project and the school collectively contributes over one thousand hours to the local community.

St. Mary School has been open for 5 day, in-person learning this year for grades PreK 3 to 8th grade. For more information, please visit www.stmarybethelct.org.
