Tell us about your business and its history in your town.

Garcia, a graduate of Danbury High School, took over the Sylvan Learning on Federal Road in Brookfield two years ago. Sylvan Learning combines her love of education, entrepreneurship and helping others in the community. Sylvan's tutors use a personal approach and interactive technology to help kids learn math, reading, writing and more — turning B's into A's and frustration into confidence!

How has the new coronavirus impacted your business and its employees?

Our brick and mortar is closed. In one week, we went from in person to live virtual tutoring. We are down from five to two staff members. Business has declined by 70 percent. In response to COVID-19, our proven programs are now available via online, face-to-face tutoring sessions.
