The Brookfield Health Department advises you to "Stay Cool" during spells of hot weather. Stay in the shade. Use sunscreen and be extremely careful with children and pets outside and especially in overheated cars. Cooling centers are available during normal business hours at the Brookfield Library, Brookfield Senior Center and Greenknoll YMCA. When the Heat Index is high, we tend to lose body fluids rapidly. So stay hydrated but remember - don't replenish those lost fluids with water alone.  The body loses important minerals and electrolytes too!
