Board Of Finance OKs Proposed Budget, Now Headed To Town Council
The budget, approved in a bipartisan vote, "holds the line on spending, enhances services, and carries with it no tax increase," Mayor said.

EAST HAVEN, CT — The town Board of Finance approved the 2021-2022 budget unanimously Tuesday. The spending plan now heads to the Town Council for passage.
In a release from Mayor Joseph A. Carfora's office it's noted that the budget garnered bipartisan support.
"This represents the first major step in the town of East Haven’s budget process and this is the second year that Mayor Carfora’s budget has received bipartisan approval at the finance board," it reads.

The budget "holds the line on spending, enhances services, and carries with it no tax increase," it's noted.
"I want to thank the Board of Finance for their commitment to good government. It means a lot to have this done in a bipartisan way. It’s nice to have everyone ratify our plan to financially rebuild this wonderful community. Especially as we have faced such a difficult year," Carfora said in a statement. "We look forward to passing the budget onto the Town Council.”

Meanwhile, the Mayor's office noted that this is board vice chair Noreen Clough's last term.
Clough has served the town in myriad ways including as president of the East Haven Fall Festival Committee and as an 18-year finance board member. She's the daughter of the "legendary East Havener Jack 'Jackie' Brereton" who served as East Haven’s Town Clerk from 1975 to 1985.
"I’m so pleased to to be part of a board of finance to pass along a bipartisan approval for my last budget as a member. Our group thoroughly evaluated this proposal and we believe it’s based on sound financial principles," she said. "My time on this board has been rewarding. It’s time to pass the torch, and it’s so pleasing to do it this fashion.”
