Calabro Cheese Wins Big at American Cheese Society Competition

Winners were announced and East Haven, CT producer Calabro Cheese is thrilled to announce that four of their products brought home victory.

EAST HAVEN, CT — The American Cheese Society Judging & Competition, the largest of its kind for American-made cheeses, takes place each year at the ACS Annual Conference to recognize the finest cheeses and dairy products made in the Americas. '

This year's competition saw a total of 1742 cheese and cultured dairy products from 257 companies entered in the competition.

Winners were announced last week and East Haven, CT producer Calabro Cheese is thrilled to announce that four of their products brought home top awards:

Hand Dipped Ricotta – 1st Place

Ricotta di Bufala – 2nd Place

Bocconcini Fresh Mozzarella – 2nd Place

Old Fashioned Gourmet Fresh Mozzarella – 2nd Place

The competition recognizes products for their achievements in flavor, aroma, texture, and appearance and the judges are food professionals selected from academia and the dairy sciences industry, as well as culture manufacturers, food retailers, food distributors, and members of the food media.

Calabro Cheese is a family owned company founded by Joseph Calabro in 1953. The manufacturing plant is in East Haven, CT and is run by Joseph's nephew, Frank Angeloni. For over half a century, Calabro Cheese has been a leader in the manufacturing of Italian Artisanal Cheeses. All of their cow's milk products use New England farm fresh milk that is rBST-free and they also produce a full line of Bufala milk products.
