Cops: East Haven Man, 29, Dead After Motorcycle & Car Collision

EAST HAVEN, CT — A 29-year-old man driving a motorcycle died after a car driven by a 95-year-old man collided with his bike near Hemingway Avenue and Tyler Street, according to East Haven Police Capt. Joseph Murgo.

Bruce Esposito, of East Haven, was driving his motorcycle south on Hemingway when Peter Acampora tried to cross Hemingway from Tyler Street Extension to Tyler Street "causing the collision," Murgo said.

Esposito was treated at the scene by East Haven Fire Department personnel before being transported to Yale New Haven Hospital with life threatening injuries. He later died from his injuries.

Acampora was also treated on scene by fire department EMTs and was also taken to YNHH with serious injuries. Hemingway Avenue between River Street and Pennsylvania Avenue was shut down for several hours while the South Central Connecticut Traffic Unit investigated.
