East Haven 2016 Fireworks/Beach Party Details Announced

EAST HAVEN, CT - The 16th annual East Haven Fireworks/Beach Party celebration will be held on Saturday, June 25, at the Town Beach on Cosey Beach Avenue. Rain date is Monday, June 27.

The event begins at noon with music, food and live entertainment, provided by WPLR 99.1 and others. The rock band The Idol Kings will perform a tribute to the band Journey beginning at 7:15 p.m.

Additionally, a musical tribute called “Rob and Karen’s salute to America’s Heroes” will lead up to the fireworks, which are expected to start at about 9 p.m.

The celebration is sponsored by Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 484, the Town of East Haven and PMA Companies. If Saturday is rained out, the shift to Monday will only include the evening entertainment and fireworks.

A limited number of food vendors and concessionaires will be in the immediate area, according to organizers. Food will also be available from the Sandpiper Restaurant, located directly across from the Town Beach on Cosey Beach Avenue.

Street access to the beach will be limited beginning at 10 a.m., and Cosey Beach Avenue will be closed from the intersection of Second Avenue to Philips Street. Additionally, Coe Avenue will be closed from the Bradford Street intersection to the beach.

The East Haven Police Department will be posting notices and directing motorists in and around the general vicinity of the town beach, organizers said.

"Although the fireworks are presented in a cooperative effort with the Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 484 and the Town of East Haven, the majority of funding is obtained from private businesses and some personal donations," organizers said in a statement. "To that end, donations may be mailed to VVA Fireworks 2016 c/o Mayor’s Office, 250 Main Street, East Haven, CT 06512."
