East Haven Merit Award Winners Honored
The 2015 Merit Award Banquet will take place Sept. 10 at the Country House Restaurant in East Haven.

Mayor Joseph Maturo, Jr. and the East Haven Merit Award Committee will recognize and honor the 2015 Merit Award winners on Sept. 10 at the Country House Restaurant in East Haven. Jennifer Higham, Dominick Onofrio and George Smith will receive their awards at the annual banquet held.
The dinner is the kickoff event for East Haven’s largest event, its annual Fall Festival, being held Friday, Saturday and Sunday Sept. 12, 12 and 13 on the Town Green.

Jennifer Higham has been a member of the EH Chamber for 10 years and just concluded her term as the Chairperson of the Board. She is also involved with Boy Scout Troop 401, the Trolley Museum and the EH Animal Shelter.
Dominick Onofrio is currently co-chairperson of the Vietnam Veterans, Chapter 484 Fireworks Committee, which he has been involved with for over 14 years. He has previously been involved with Momauguin Little League and the EH Marching Band.

George Smith is the creator and coordinator of “Clean-up East Haven”, a volunteer group that monthly on a Saturday morning designates a specific area of town for the clean-up of liter and trash. He has also been a volunteer at Foxon Recreation for over 25 years.
The Fall Festival continues to be supported by corporate sponsorships and individual contributions.
