East Haven Police Reverse Heroin Overdose In Drive-Thru
East Haven police were trained in the use of Narcan earlier this year, the release says, issuing all officers multiple doses.
EAST HAVEN, CT — East Haven police rescued a man overdosing in his vehicle in a fast food drive thru line on Saturday, according to a release from the East Haven Police Department.
Police say around 1:50 p.m Saturday, police were sent to the Wendy's at 65 Frontage Rd. on a report of the overdose. Police found the man unresponsive in the driver's seat of his car.
Officers removed a young child from the car and administered CPR to the man, giving him doses of Narcan. The man regained consciousness soon after.

Inside the car, police later found a loaded gun and several bags of heroin, the release says.
The East Haven Fire Department arrived a short time later and kept treating the man, taking him to a hospital for evaluation.

East Have police trained to use Narcan earlier this year, the release says, and this is the first time they've reversed and overdose with Narcan issued by the department.
"Training officers in the proper use of Narcan and equipping them with it while out on patrol is a front-line necessity," the release says.
