East Haven Rotary to Host 10th Annual Free Thanksgiving Dinner

EAST HAVEN, CT– For the tenth year in a row The East Haven Rotary Club will be providing East Haven residents a FREE full course Thanksgiving Dinner available for pickup or delivery at the East Haven Senior Center on Thanksgiving Day from 10 am until 11:30 pm. In addition to a turkey dinner the Rotary will be providing all the traditional holiday “fixings” including a dessert.

The Rotary will package the dinners for takeout and arrangements may be made to pick them up or even have them delivered, if transportation is not available.

East Haven residents intending to partake in the holiday meal are being asked contact the East Haven Senior Center at 203-468-3277 or they may call Rotarian's Bob Parente at 203-675-1588 or Frank Gentilesco, Jr. at 203-627-0602. Residents must indicate the number of meals needed and if they are requesting a delivery rather than picking up the food at the Senior Center. All meal deliveries will begin at 10 am or must be picked up from the Senior Center, 91 Taylor Avenue no later than 11:30 am on Thanksgiving Day.

With the continuing economic climate and continued high unemployment, many more families may find themselves in need of some type of assistance and the Rotary is encouraging residents to feel comfortable to participate in this program. Last year the Rotary provided more dinners than ever before.

With the increasing needs of the community, monetary donations would be greatly appreciated. Anyone wishing to donate may also contact East Haven Rotary or mail checks payable to East Haven Rotary “Thanksgiving Donation” c/o Frank Gentilesco at the Office of Mayor, 250 Main Street, East Haven, CT 06512.

The East Haven Rotary Club now celebrating 77 years was founded in 1939. Since that time Rotarians from East Haven have been involved in thousands of projects helping the residents of not just East Haven but around the world. East Haven Rotary will also be holding its annual “Breakfast with Santa” on Saturday December 3rd, with more details to follow.
