East Haven Animal Control Hosts Open House
The event will be on June 3 from noon to 4 p.m. Food and drinks will be provided by East Haven Veterinary Hospital.

From Town of East Haven-Mayor's Office: East Haven Animal Control Officer Owen Little and his staff will be hosting an Open House at the East Haven Animal Shelter, 189 Commerce Street on Saturday June 3rd from 12 noon until 4:00 pm. During the past year the Animal Shelter was able to raise the funds necessary to complete the installation of a 24 x 48 food pavilion. It is complete with a concrete base and decorative rod fence around the entire pavilion. In addition a completely upgraded parking and drainage system was also installed. Much of the assembly and construction work was performed by the Town’s Public Services Department. “All of these improvements and many others were accomplished with NO taxpayer dollars, as they all were made possible by the generosity of the many donors to the Shelter’s Kennel Fund”, Little stated.
During the past 7 years the shelter has been able to raise the funds to help cover the medical costs and treatment of neglected animals that found their way to the Shelter. Some of the other improvements included: transformation of the garage area into an area to house cats; isolation area for sick or injured animals and the installation of overhead doors on the outside kennels which keep the canines warm and significantly reduce heating costs.
“The work of our ACO Owen Little, his assistant Sean Godejohn and the many volunteers who assist these gentlemen is unparalleled in our area. I continue to be amazed at the generosity of our community and the many area businesses whenever there is a need and this is a prime example of what can be accomplished with this type of philanthropy”, East Haven Mayor Joseph Maturo, Jr. “On June 3rd the Shelter will be hosting the open house to help show these folks who unselfishly donated, where their hard earned monies have been used.”, Maturo concluded.
