I’m honor of representing myself as a family childcare provider

I'm happy to participate in national conference organized by the Alliance for Early Success about the early care and education workforce.

I want to start by saying that I am honored and thankful for the opportunity I had. I was able to participate in a conference event this past Tuesday in Milwaukee,WI for Elevating State Policies For/With the Early Education Profession: Taking Stock, Moving Forward from Alliance for Early Success. I am a licensed Family child care provider and owner of Little Scholars Childcare, LLC in the town of East Haven, CT. I was selected by the organization of All our kin in New Haven; which is a that program helps childcare providers like me at any stage of development. They have an amazing program that provides great advice and help to everyone in this field.

I had the honor of representing myself as a family oriented child care provider/educator for early education. It was a privilege to be around great people that believe there is a better way to find a balance between quality and compensation for all. There was so much diversity in one room from educators, organizations, politicians and family child care providers. We were able to share our ideas and strategies from different point of views but at the same time having the same purpose which is to express our knowledge with others of how important is to value of early education in our different communities.

In my personal opinion being an educator as a family child care provider, It was exhilarating to be involved in this movement, being able to share our personal experiences and build evidence to show the community what we do matters. All children need to get off to the right start with access to high-quality early education. That is why as a family child care provider/educator we offer great services of education to our communities on a professional level. Many childcare educators can be found across the country, which provide high-quality programs for infants and toddlers, preschoolers, school age, and children with special needs.

This was a different experience I stepped out of my comfort zone to be a part of this educational experience thanks to All Our Kin. I was able to build relationships with other providers/educators which shared the passion for early education.I loved how this opportunity opened the doors for me to be able to connect with others. Most importantly it taught me that the main key to promoting or advocating for other providers like myself is by talking and sharing my experiences to teach everyone of the wonderful opportunities and programs there are for everyone in the field. I was able to learn how to advocate to communities for early childcare education, better policies, and compensation. I believe that I can make a difference within my town and state to find ways to connect with others engaging with the community to support early education especially for Family child care providers. It’s really important to reach out to others and let them know that what we do matters and does impact our community; it’s so important to support us educators. I did bring home many of memories and a strong message of the importance of early success of early education for all. I feel powerful and confident that I can find ways to keep connecting and find ways to contribute to my community and across the country by building a strong network to drive to a change in the field.
