An Inauspicious Milestone: Schools Mark 300th Coronavirus Case

There are now 300 cases of COVID-19 reported in East Haven schools since fall with 211 students and 89 staff members having tested positive.

EAST HAVEN, CT — With two new cases reported over Easter weekend, East Haven Public Schools reports that since the beginning of the school year, 211 students and 89 staff members —including teachers and administrators — tested positive for COVID-19, for a total of 300 cases.

According to data provided by the district, there were a total of 14 new cases reported last week culminating with an Easter Sunday notification of two new cases.

As the state has seen a spike in COVID-19 cases in part due to coronavirus variants, so too did case numbers spike in East Haven schools. Last week, there were eight staff members who were out sick after having tested positive for COVID-19, schools Superintendent Erica Forti told Patch.
