A beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Eleanor was loved for her quick smile and great sense of humor. ​

Eleanor (Carboni) Avitabile, 98, of East Haven, beloved wife of the late Pasquale Avitabile (1994), passed away at home on Easter Sunday, April 4, 2021. She was the loving mother of Patricia Walker (Fred) of New Haven, Susan Avitabile (Al Kacerguis) of Durham, and Joan Odorizzi Avitabile (Steve) of North Carolina.

Eleanor was the proud grandmother of Richard Ross (Kelly), Jerry Ross (Debbie), and great grandmother of Carly, Erin and Erika Ross. Eleanor is also preceded in death by her siblings; Theresa Levine, Elvira Eramo, Emma Jean Rakiec, Julia Traycoff, Robert Carboni and Marshall Carboni.

Eleanor was born in Kent, Ohio on December 27, 1922, the daughter of Caesar and Mary (DeFelice) Carboni. She was loved for her quick smile and great sense of humor.

Family and friends are invited to meet and attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, April 8, 2021 at 12:30 P.M. in St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish and the Church of St. Vincent de Paul, 80 Taylor Ave., East Haven with Committal to follow at St. Agnes Cemetery in Branford. Please go directly to the church. Funeral services are under the care of the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home, 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven.
